Why Linux?

We are often asked why we only use Linux for hosting websites and web 2.0 applications. The April 2010 Server Survey shows 54% of servers are Linux based compared to only 25% MS (19% other). There is a good reason for that. Most servers are run by professionals whose livelyhood depends on doing it the most reliable and cost-effective way. The world's top 10 most reliable hosting companies were ALL Linux based.

Web 2.0    is the art and science of creating interactive websites that DO something (see  the Wiki page).   Older style  'information-only' website still have their place for businesses that only need to advertise what they offer in a static way. When a requirement emerges to provide dynamic or interactive content then applications (computer programs) are needed. This is where TMIT excel.

We specialise in providing the technology to carry out a myriad of inter-related business processes (sales, marketing, accounting and IT support) via the web - safely and securely.

This enables businesses to be free of the boundaries imposed by expensive offices. Business participants (customers, staff, contractors, suppliers, management) can each perform a specific set of allocated tasks by logging in from wherever they happen to be - home, office, hotel, airport, overseas.

The key to this is security. Using secure sockets layer (SSL) technology together with data encryption, strong username/password protection and a number of other devices we have developed a platform that ensures your data is totally safe. Of course the 'demonstration' examples we provided (below)  obviously have no security of this type so that site visitors can actually access them.

In addition to security we have also developed backup and restoration protocols that ensure your data is never lost. By combining these backup procedures with our 'Cloud Server' technology we can provide the highest level of data and application availability possible.

Our Web 2.0 offerings fall into 5 broad categories:

  1. CMS - Content Management Systems (see CMS Wiki page)
  2. ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning (see  ERP Wiki page)
    • Financial Management and Planning (Accounting)
    • CRM - Customer Relationship Management (see CRM Wiki page)
  3. eCommerce (see eCommerce Wiki page)
  4. Image Gallery Management
  5. Event Management

In some cases clients will want to integrate CMS with ERP and CRM.
